Walking adventurers are delighted in this part of “Green Périgord”.
Discover Brantôme with France's oldest XIth century bell tower, its XVI th century abbey and cloister, the Saint Roch tower, the Medicis fountain, the “Last Judgment Cave”, the Monks’ Garden, its bridges and its flowered streets. Have a boat-ride on the Dronne’ river circling the “Venice of Périgord”, go fishing by the river banks, or take a canoe down to Bourdeilles. Horse riding, bicycling in the countryside, golfing, trekking, are also available.

Don’t miss Friday morning market in Brantôme, or Wednesday and Saturday morning in Périgueux. Well-known delicacies such as “foie gras”, duck, truffles and walnut-oil will tempt any gourmet. People here are proud of their gastronomic traditions. Brantôme and its surroundings provide a good choice of restaurants, including two 1 ** Michelin restaurant.
Brantôme is in the heart of the “Cradle of Humanity”. From here you can visit the prehistoric caves of Lascaux and Les Eyzies. Roads wind to more than a 1000 bastides and castles, famous among them are the castles of Castelnaud, Bourdeilles, Puyguilhem, Jumilhac and La Marthonie.

You can visit Périgueux only 25 kms away with its medieval old town and the magnificent dome of the Gallo-Roman basilica Saint Front. Also about an hour drive east to the romantic town of Sarlat, or to Limoges, the French capital of porcelain, or go west to the renown vineyards of Saint Emilion and Cognac.
